2008 Conference Overview
It is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 31st annual AAS Guidance and Control Conference. The conference will be held at the Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, Colorado, February 1-6, 2008. The planning committee has worked diligently since the last conference to put together an exciting and technically focused program for the 2008 conference. New for this conference in 2008, we will be holding a speaker panel on the “Future of GN&C,” composed of leaders in the GN&C field. With increased international focus on space exploration, we have several sessions geared towards this subject, including “Deep Space Navigation,” “Human Exploration GN&C Challenges,” and the “Space Environment.” The topic of the U.S. Only session is inspired by recent world events, and will take on the subject of “Space Situational Awareness.” We will continue our traditional sessions on “G&C Advances” and “Recent Experiences,” and plan to make soft copies of papers available on-site this year. Details are provided in the enclosed flyer, and updates are posted at http://www.aas-rocky-mountain-section.org.
Our “Technical Exhibits” session will provide attendees the opportunity for one-on-one interaction with industry, national laboratory, and academia representatives, and exposure to state-of-the-art G&C technology. This session is organized in a unique way for our conference, as we encourage all attendees and their family members to attend. Come enjoy this session, the sumptuous buffet, and socialize with friends and colleagues both old and new!
The traditional evening
banquet will present a nationally known speaker that is sure to
entertain engineers and family members alike. Multiple family events
will be held, including one geared towards school age children: the
return of former NASA Astronaut, Bill Gregory.
Come join us in the Colorado Rockies for five days of learning from world-leaders in Guidance and Control. The exciting atmosphere, state-of-the-art technical innovation, and lessons learned make it an exceptional experience. The conference format blends world-class technical presentations with ample time for recreation, family and group activities, and social gatherings in an authentic mountain community. The conference offers special discounts on lodging, ski tickets, ski lessons, and rental equipment, so be prepared for an experience that will keep you coming back year after year.
Hope to see you in February!
